March concert features concerto winner
The Butler County Symphony Orchestra’s “The Inextinguishable” concert March 4 will feature the 2023 orchestra’s Collegiate Concerto Competition winner.
Slippery Rock University student Thomas Bachert, an alto saxophonist, will make a debut in Ibert’s “Concertino da Camera.”
The symphony’s Side-by Side Honors Symphony of high school musicians will join the orchestra in Sibelius’ “Finlandia.” Over 80 young musicians of note from Butler County schools will also be recognized.
Included in the program are Ravel’s "La Valse“ and Nielsen’s ”The Inextinguishable.“
Conducted by Matthew Kraemer, orchestra music director and conductor, the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Butler Intermediate School Auditorium, 551 Fairground Hill Road. A free pre-concert lecture with Kraemer begins at 6:30 p.m.
