Taking the leap to work for yourself can be liberating and concerning.

Amanda Green of Butler took those steps a few months ago when she founded Evergreen Accounting to provide various tax services in the Butler County area such as individual tax returns, corporate business tax returns, non-profit tax returns and others.

“Definitely small businesses,” Green said. “I love doing corporate returns, and that then turns into their personal returns. Right now it’s individuals, but I would like to expand it to monthly work because I tell people I can be as involved as you want me to be.”

Green said she is excited to grow her business and currently has a three-month lease in the Holly Pointe building at 220 S. Main St. in Butler in order to meet with clients for the upcoming tax season.

Right now she says the only struggles are getting the word out through advertising and word of mouth.

Green is the treasurer for Butler Downtown, which has helped her realize the potential there is in the area to grow her business.

“This past year I got involved with Butler Downtown, and I was never fully aware of how the businesses were all connected to each other downtown,” Green said. “I love that it’s a big, small town.”
