The Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, is offering people a chance to broaden their canine acquaintances with its Doggie Date Night on Feb. 3.

People will get a chance to socialize with some of the shelter’s dogs, playing with and petting the animals. Participants, after paying a $25 fee, can reserve a one-hour slot between 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. to romp with some of the pooches. Call the society at 724-789-1150 to reserve a time.

Alicia Terek, director of development with the humane society, said this is the first year the society is tying an event to the National Doggie Date Night observed every Feb. 3.

“We’re tying Doggie Date Night into the national event and Valentine’s Day, ” she said. “Although you don’t have to be a couple to take part, it can be two friends. And the dogs also enjoy some one-on-one time with new people.”
