SV boys soccer reaches semifinals
Will Bruno’s goal off a pass from Jeremiah Laslavic just over three minutes into the game set Seneca Valley’s boys soccer team on the path to a 3-0 victory over Spring-Ford in a PIAA Class 4A quarterfinal playoff Saturday in Mechanicsburg.
Cole Kamarec added a score in the 62nd minute and Connor Oros set Bruno up for his second goal 15 minutes later.
The Raiders (20-1-1) will face Conestoga, a 2-0 winner over Warwick, in a semifinal at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Chambersburg. SV met Conestoga in last year’s state final, dropping a 1-0 decision.
Girls Soccer
Gwen Howell’s goal in the 10th minute was followed by Addison Girdwood‘s tally in the 58th minute as Mars took down Lower Dauphin, 2-0, in a Class 3A quarterfinal in Hollidaysburg.
In a rematch of the WPIAL championship game played Nov. 5, Mars (19-1) will take on Moon, a 4-1 winner over Plum, in a semifinal playoff at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Allegheny.
The Tigers defeated the Planets for the WPIAL crown by a score of 1-0.
Girls Volleyball
After dropping the first set, North Catholic rebounded by winning the next three in a 3-1 victory over District 6 champion Hollidaysburg in a Class 3A quarterfinal played at Derry Area High School.
The Trojanettes advanced by scores of 22-25, 25-16, 25-23, 26-24.
No other details were reported.
North (18-2) will play Thomas Jefferson, which defeated Conneaut, 3-1, in a semifinal at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Chapel.
In a WPIAL semifinal Nov. 1, the Trojanettes swept TJ on their way to the district title.
