Loya’s 4 goals spark SV boys

Mars, KC girls also advance in PIAA playoffs

Gavin Loya scored four times while Will Bruno and Cole Kamarec both had a goal and an assist in Seneca Valley’s 7-3 PIAA Class 4A boys soccer first-round playoff win Tuesday at State College.

The Raiders (19-1-1) led 3-2 at halftime before Loya scored for the third time six minutes into the second half.

Connor Oros added a goal and Max Marcotte an assist for SV, which will face Spring-Ford in a quarterfinal Saturday at a time to be determined.

Girls Soccer

Mars overwhelmed District 9 champion Bradford, 5-0, in a PIAA Class 3A first-round playoff in McKean County.

The Planets (18-1) received a pair of goals from Jenna Caringola and one apiece from Eden Gerlach, Ava Balazentis and Ava Lewis.

Mars will face Lower Dauphin in a quarterfinal Saturday at a site and time to be determined.

Karns City 4, Penns Valley 0 — The Gremlins’ Lyrik Reed netted a pair of goals, Hanna Dailey one, and Emma Dailey another in a PIAA Class 1A first round clash at Philipsburg-Osceola High School.

Karns City (18-4) advances to face WPIAL champion Freedom Area in a quarterfinal Saturday at a site and time to be determined.

Fort LeBoeuf 3, North Catholic 2 — Lauren MacDonald and Chloe Karsman both scored for the Trojanettes (16-3), who fell in overtime to the Bisons.
