Rossi 100th birthday

Rose Y. Rossi of Newhaven Court, Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, celebrated her 100th birthday at Shakespeare’s Restaurant in Ellwood City with 90 family members, relatives and friends from Texas, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The former Rose Giacobbi was born Oct. 3, 1922, in McComas, W.Va., the daughter of the late Alphonso and Chlorinda Marinucci Giacobbi. She lived in Ellwood City from the age of 6 until she was 99 years old.

She had four sisters and brothers-in-law, all of whom are deceased: Josephine (Frank) DeCaria, Inese (Jim) Bellissimo, Helen (Angelo) Lordi and Florence (Joe) Folino.

She married Ernest A. Rossi on July 15, 1944. They were married for 58 years. He died in 2002.

She has two children, Mary (Dean) Ference of Cranberry Township and the late Dennis (Peggy) Rossi of Houston, Texas.

She also has four grandchildren, Kevin Ference, Greg Ference, Rosalie Rossi and Kathleen Tyler, and three great-grandchildren, Ryan Tyler, Addie Ference and Nathan Ference.

She worked at the Aetna Standard/Blaw Knox Engineering Co. of Ellwood City for 25 years, first in the payroll division and later as a stenographer. She retired in 1985.

She is a member of Holy Redeemer Church-Divine Grace Parish in Ellwood City.
