Marjorie Leith Long, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022. She was a resident at Sherwood Oaks in Cranberry Township for the past 26 years. Before that she resided in Valencia, for 24 years.

Born on June 27, 1926, at Magee Hospital of Pittsburgh, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Ruth Cooke Leith.

Raised in Ingram Borough, she graduated from Crafton High School in 1944, and Montefiore School of Nursing in 1947. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Education degrees from Slippery Rock University.

In August of 1946, she married Francis P. Long Jr. Ed.D., who preceded her in death.

Marjorie was employed at Butler Hospital for one year, Butler VA Hospital for two years, St. John’s Hospital in Valencia for one year as the head nurse and the office of Ralph Wymer M.D. for eight years as the nurse manager. She also was employed at Family Therapy in Indiana, Pa., as a counselor. Marjorie served as a school nurse in the Seneca Valley School District for 24 years, before retiring to years of world travel.

She is survived by her son, retired opera singer Charles P. Long of Goodyear, Ariz.; and her daughter, retired international businesswoman Rebecca Leith Long of Ocala, Fla.

The family is profoundly grateful to the staffs of Sherwood Oaks Oak Grove Memory Care Unit and Bridges Hospice for Marjorie’s end-of-life care.
