Members of the Pine-Richland/Mars Area U.S. Air Force JROTC planted 2,977 American flags, one for each person who died in the Sept. 11 attacks, along Route 228 in front of the Mars Area High School campus.

The memorial display has become an annual tradition. The flags will remain on display through Sunday, Sept. 11.
