Charges advance against Seven Fields man accused of threats

Charges against a Seven Fields man accused of threatening and harassing his neighbor were advanced to the Butler County Common Pleas Court.

Jerome E. Mulligan, 40, is charged with felony retaliation against a victim and misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct, related to incidents on May 8 and May 21.

At a preliminary hearing Friday before District Judge Kevin Flaherty, Mulligan’s neighbor from across the street, Tyler Rupert of Seven Fields, said Mulligan threatened him and his family on two separate occasions.

On the evening of May 8, around 8:45 p.m., Rupert said he was sitting on his front porch using his iPad when Mulligan left his house and began “screaming” at him from across the street while pacing at the front of his own yard.

Rupert said Mulligan repeated statements like “One call, and you’re dead, your family is dead.” Rupert called the police, and after the police had left, Rupert said, Mulligan walked up the street and repeated “One call, this is all over and you’re dead.”

On May 21, Rupert said Mulligan threatened him in a similar manner during daylight hours, again while Rupert was sitting on his porch answering emails.

Mulligan’s wife, Julia Mulligan, crossed the street and asked to speak to Rupert, at which point Mulligan told his wife to “make that one call to Florida that we talked about last night,” Rupert said.

According to Rupert, Mulligan also posted a video of Rupert’s house on his public Instagram account that day.

At the hearing, Flaherty changed the bond conditions on Mulligan to allow him to return to his home in Seven Fields under a strict no-contact order with his neighbors, and with pre-trial supervision. Previously, Mulligan was not permitted to be in the area of Seven Fields.

The formal arraignment date for Mulligan is August 16.
