Evans City will unveil a new memorial to police officers at noon Saturday, with the memorial bench joining other dedications on Main Street.

Mayor Dean Zinkhann said the memorial will honor police officers who have served throughout the lifetime of Evans City’s police force.

“It’s a dedication to the service our officers have given Evans City in the past,” Zinkhann said. “It honors what our police officers have given to the community and still give to the community.”

The memorial bench will be located near the NexTier Bank, close to other monuments to veterans and firefighters.

“The police never had one, so we figured it would be nice to have one for them as well,” Zinkhann said.
