Cranberry Twp man accused of sexual misconduct with 2 teen girls

Police filed charges against a Cranberry Township man accusing him of fondling one teenage girl and having sex with another.

Zelienople police filed two separate sets of charges Tuesday against Tyler “Ciggy” I. Wright, 21, of Cranberry Township, related to sexual misconduct with two different teenage girls, age 13 and 14.

Following arraignment Tuesday by District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz, he was released on a non-monetary bond on one case and a $25,000 unsecured bond on the other. Conditions for both bonds would require Wright to have no contact with his alleged victims.

Wright’s cumulative charges across both cases include, two felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor and singular felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual assault, statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors. He is also charged with two misdemeanor counts each of giving alcohol to minors and indecent assault.

According to charging documents, police interviewed Wright on May 11 about two different reported incidents. Police said by the end Wright admitted to wrongdoing in both situations.

Police received the first report April 28 about Wright allegedly having indecent contact with a 13-year-old girl.

Police said one of Wright’s friends provided a statement about the moment he caught Wright in the backseat of his car in Zelienople Community Park.

“As (the witness) parked his truck closer to Ciggy’s car, he noticed a head pop up from the back seat,” police said.

The witness said they saw the girl put clothing back onto her torso and climb to the front seat. He said Wright claimed nothing happened.

Police interviewed the girl, 13, and she reported she wasn’t feeling well and went to the back seat to lie down. She told police Wright touched her inappropriately, and she told him to stop. She said the witness showed up at that point, but after the witness left, Wright again touched her inappropriately.

“She started screaming at him to stop and to drive her home,” police said.

The witness said after leaving the two in the park, he received more information that the girl was 13, and he contacted Wright to tell him. The witness met with Wright at a gas station, and the girl was still in Wright’s car. The witness eventually took the girl home.

During his interview with police, Wright told police the two only talked in the back seat, but later admitted to touching her at least once.

“Wright stated (the witness) showed up and (the girl) told Wright to get off of her, and he did,” police said.

After interviewing Wright about the first report, they then talked to him about a second report they received May 2 accusing Wright of having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Police said the girl told a friend who made the report and encouraged the girl to come forward too.

In an interview with the girl, she told officers Wright had come to her home one night while her mother was asleep. She said Wright brought three beers and a bottle of rum, and she, Wright and others, one of whom was another minor, drank the alcohol.

The girl told police she went to bed that night, and Wright entered her room a short time later. She said Wright asked to have sex with her, and they did.

Police said in the second interview, Wright again initially denied touching the 14-year-old girl, but admitted to bringing alcohol for the group.

“Eventually, Wright admitted to having sexual intercourse with the girl,” police said.

Police said Wright told officers the sex was consensual and safely conducted.

Wright is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing May 31 before Marcinkiewicz.
