Seneca Valley School District promoted two administrators this week.

Marie Palano, who served 11 years as the district’s director of Analytics and Federal Programs, was promoted to the position of assistant superintendent of Curriculum and Assessment.

Palano earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish education at Mercyhurst University, a master’s degree in reading while teaching and earning certification as a reading specialist, her principal certification from Gannon University and superintendent eligibility at California University of Pennsylvania.

She earned her doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh in educational leadership.

Palano is a resident of Cranberry Township.

“I look forward to assuming new responsibilities as an assistant superintendent,” Palano said. “As I transition to this new role, I will continue to devote my time, attention, energy and skills to serve and support our district and school community.”

The district also promoted Ashley Porter, who served as assistant principal of the Seneca Valley Academy of Choice for the past five years.

Porter now acts as the district’s supervisor of equity.

Porter earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Morgan State University in Baltimore, his technology integration K-12 certification from Penn State Beaver and his master of education in administrative policy studies from the University of Pittsburgh.

Porter is a resident of Monaca, Beaver County.

“I am thrilled and honored to serve our students at Seneca Valley in this new role,” Porter said. “As the supervisor of equity, my overarching goal is to work alongside student leaders, staff members, school administration and outside organizations to foster a school community where we all feel welcomed, valued and safe.”
