VA healthcare system continuing veteran vaccinations

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 347 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Butler County Thursday, bringing the total positive count to 29,679.

The health department also reported five new deaths related to the disease in the county, bringing the total death count to 652.

Butler Health System reported Thursday it had 52 COVID-positive inpatients with four in the Intensive Care Unit. The health system reported two deaths Jan. 17 and one Jan. 19 related to COVID-19.

The Butler VA Health Care System is still administering vaccines to military personnel. A Thursday news release from the organization said its COVID-19 vaccine and booster clinic moved to the Abie Abraham VA Health Care Center at 353 N. Duffy Road in Butler, but will continue walk-in service from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays.

Veterans, regardless of enrollment or eligibility status, spouses and caregivers under the SAVE Lives Act are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine or booster at the clinic, according to the news release.
