Cranberry adopts parks and rec day

Cranberry Township’s board of supervisors adopted a resolution declaring July 16, 2021 as Park and Recreation Professionals Day.

Pennsylvania Recre5President Tim Herd plans to visit the Cranberry Township Community Days festivities July 10 as one of three statewide visits to spotlight celebrations in the leadup to the holiday.

The commemorative day was established in Pennsylvania in 2019 by the Pennsylvania House and Senate in order to “extend thanks and gratitude to park and recreation professionals and the essential services that they provide to our citizens and our communities.” The celebration falls during National Park and Recreation Month.

The National Recreation and Park Association describes the day as a chance to “honor all the dedicated professionals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to provide the high-quality programs and infrastructure we desire and expect in our parks and public spaces.”
