Adams siren test set for this weekend

Adams Area Fire District will test its new Weather Warning Siren Saturday at noon.

The test siren will sound for approximately 15 seconds, but in a real emergency the alarm would sound for three minutes when an alert is issued.

A statement on the fire department website explained that the Weather Warning siren program is connected to the National Weather Service.

“The siren on the Fire Headquarters will sound when the following alerts happen within the siren hearing area: a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm warning that has winds of 60 mph or greater,” the statement said. “The siren may also be activated manually for other emergencies in the local area.”

Further information on the test is available on the fire district's website.
