Veteran banners coming to Adams park

Adams Township residents looking to honor a military veteran in their family soon will have a new way to show their support.

The township is working to set up veteran memorial banners that can be purchased and hung in Community Park.

“We're working with a firm that creates the banners, so anybody who wants to honor a veteran — an individual, business, family member, friend — can order one,” said township manager Gary Peaco.

The application has not yet been added to the website, but Peaco hopes to have it up sometime in the next few weeks. Residents will be able to print an order form online or get one from the township municipal building. “We're trying to get this set up, so that if people want to do this for Christmas presents, (they can),” Peaco said. “We thought it would be a good time to see if people wanted to do this to honor their friends and family.”

The cost for the banners has not yet been determined, but includes the banner and the framework, Peaco said. “The park is the start, and depending on how many we get we'll expand to some other locations,” he said. “It looks really nice — I remember going through Evans City and seeing them up there. It is pretty cool to remember those folks who are most likely no longer with us.”
