6 KC players score in 9-0 triumph

Six different Karns City players put at least one goal past Forest Area in a 9-0 boys soccer victory Monday.

Myles McCully, Jacob Callihan, and Adam Smith all scored a pair of markers in helping the Gremlins improve to 13-2.

Mallick Metcalfe, Brandon Slater, and Colson Ritzert also had tallies. Lathan Price contributed with an assist.

Eden Christian Academy senior and Seven Fields resident Brian McDonnell came in with a plus-9 80 and tied for 20th place at the PIAA Class 2A Boys Championship, held at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.Other Butler County golfers who competed included Slippery Rock's Jacob Wolak (82), North Catholic's Ethan Ellis (85) and Moniteau's Jacob Felsing (90).Union City's Josh James won the state championship with a plus-1 72.The Class 3A boys championship will be held Tuesday. The event includes Mars' Blake Bertolo and Butler's Wyatt Kos.In Class 2A girls play, Karns City's Chloe Fritch carded an 85 and tied for 17th place.Moniteau's Emma Covert finished 36th.The state title was won by Camp Hill's Paige Richter, who shot 1-over 73.

In a WPIAL Class 2A team semifinal at Fox Chapel High School, Knoch defeated South Park, 4-1.The Knights will face the survivor of the other semifinal, played between Sewickley Academy and Beaver, for the district crown Wednesday at Washington & Jefferson College.Knoch 4, South Park 1Singles: 1-Nicole Kempton (SP) def. Karns City's McKenna Martin tallied four goals and one assist while teammate Emma Dailey had three goals and two assists in an 11-0 win over Kennedy Catholic.Lyrik Reed added a goal plus two assists, Abby Callihan one goal and one assist, Addy Christie and Marra Patton both scored once.Other assists went to Ally Fennell (2) and Savana Prescott.
