SV tennis nips Mars

County golfers reach WPIAL tourney finals

Seneca Valley's girls tennis team received victories at No. 3 singles from Emily Lopez and the doubles duos of Payton Aloi/Aana Winland and Kailey McCune/Bridget Elms in topping host Mars, 3-2, in a section match Monday afternoon.

The Raiders improved to 4-3 in section play and 8-7 overall.

Winning for Mars were Cece Crowley and Lauren Miko at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively.

Knoch 5, Riverview 0 — The Knights (3-0, 7-1) celebrated Senior Recognition Day with a sweep of the Raiders.

Three Butler County golfers advanced from the WPIAL Class 3A boys semifinal, held at Willowbrook Country Club.Seneca Valley's Nolan Nicklas was one of them, carding a plus-4 76. Mariska Shunk's 47 was good for medalist honors as Moniteau finished the KSAC Mega Match slate undefeated with a victory at Hi-Level Golf Course.Brynne Barger had a 50 and Kendall Sankey a 51 for the Warriors, who totaled 148 strokes. Cranberry was second with 167.A-C Valley's Evie Bliss had a 57.Moniteau will compete in the District 9 Championship Monday at Clarion Oaks Golf Club.

McKenna Martin's hat trick sparked Karns City's 6-0 win over Redbank Valley.Emma Dailey added two goals and an assist and Rossi McMillen scored once.Other assists went to Lyrik Reed (2), Abby Callihan, Addy Christie and Cece Morrow.North Catholic 5, Pine-Richland — The Trojanettes improved to 8-0 overall, with five different players finding the net.Jayden Sharpless, Lindsey Pawlawski, Makenzie DeBlassio, Angelina Berkey and Lauren MacDonald each scored in the win.Rylee Kumer recorded six saves in the shutout.Hampton 10, Knoch 1 — Brooke Galcik scored the lone goal for the Knights in this Saturday game, off a corner kick by Izabella Oskin.Grace Foehringer made 10 saves in goal for Knoch.

Freeport dropped the first game, but rallied for a 3-1 victory over Armstrong.Scores were 20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-18. No individual statistics were provided.

Colson Ritzert and Myles McCully both scored twice for Karns City in a 5-0 win against Redbank Valley.Lathan Price added the other goal.
