Pine-Richland and Mars Area students place flags for 9/11

A group of about 40 students from the Pine-Richland/Mars Area U.S. Air Force JROTC assembled the annual 9/11 memorial flag display Thursday afternoon in front of Mars Area High School. The display consists of 2,977 American flags in rows along Route 228. Each flag honors one person who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. The flags will remain on display through Monday afternoon.
