Snow Daze
People in Butler woke up March 4, 1971, to discover that 10 inches of snow fell overnight, including at the intersection of Main and Diamond streets in Butler. Although the snow was of a light, fleecy variety, it was deep enough to make shoveling a chore, and it was almost impossible to keep ahead of the billowing drifts, as highway crews discovered. All county schools were closed by the heavy snowfall.
