Treecup Tea launches campaign

EVANS CITY — Treecup Tea, a Hispanic-owned bottled tea manufacturer based out of Butler County, is raising $20,000 on Kickstarter during Hispanic Heritage Month.

Funds will go toward paying for Treecup Tea’s first mid-size production run, warehousing inventory, distributing and debuting on Amazon.

Treecup exists to plant one tree in Haiti for every bottle of organic tea sold through its 501(c)3 nonprofit partner, Haiti Friends. Founded by a Grove City College student three years ago, Treecup has planted 18,000 trees in the 70% deforested country of Haiti by selling tea in the greater Pittsburgh area.

Ingredients are brewed to make four unique flavors of tea, including Peruvian Chai, Berry Jasmine, Ginsyin & Yang and Lumberjack Black. Treecup bottles have been hand-produced in an FDA-approved commercial kitchen in Evans City.

The company will debut its ancient healing herbal tea line, which will launch online this winter, this month.

Treecup’s goal is to become a national brand, pitch on Shark Tank and reforest Haiti by 2030.
