Transit authority makes changes

The Butler Transit Authority has announced changes to local and commuter bus service due to the coronavirus, according to a news release from the authority.

The changes will begin Monday.

Regarding local service, all fares will be free.

In addition, passengers will enter and exit buses from the back door and remain behind the white line to protect drivers.

An exception will be made for elderly passengers and those with mobility issues, who will be permitted to board normally.

The downtown Butler terminal will be closed.

Monday through Saturday service will use the Saturday schedule, ending with trip 10, meaning Route 5 will not operate.

Commuter service to Pittsburgh will be reduced to one bus traveling Route 8 and one bus traveling Route 68.

Those run times are listed on the authority's website, butlertransit.com under the “Coronavirus Service Changes” tab.
