Borough council on Tuesday night:Heard from Ron Steele, council president, that council plans to hire an electrician to give an estimate on the cost of hanging the snowflake Christmas lights formerly used in the borough on the poles in town.Agreed to advertise possible rezoning of 9.6 acres that contains Colonies Apartments along North Main Street from R-3 to R-1.The change will only allow single family housing to be developed on the vacant 7-acre parcel behind the apartments owned by Slippery Rock Associates. Council expects to vote on the change at its Jan. 3 meeting.Heard Mayor Ken Harris thank Bonnie Raudebaugh for her service on council. She leaves the board next month.Approved a land development plan and conditional use request submitted by Rich Gray. Gray plans to build a beauty salon on South Main Street.Reminded residents and business owners to keep their sidewalks clear of snow and ice. Failure to comply will result in a fine.
