Good Samaritan Hospice director named fellow
VALENCIA — Dr. Dina Dosch, D.O., associate medical director with Good Samaritan Hospice, a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, recently earned the designation Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
The academy is the professional organization for physicians who treat patients with serious illness.
Dosch is also associate medical director for Concordia Visiting Nurses and interdisciplinary medical director for Good Samaritan.
She received her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and trained in internal medicine at UMPC Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. Following residency, she joined LIFE Pittsburgh, Mercy Hospital and UPMC Passavant medical staffs.
In 2000, she received the Putting People First Award for excellence in patient care, professionalism, responsibility and compassion given by the Catholic Health Network of Western PA. Dosch also serves as clinical outpatient and inpatient preceptor for third year residents at UPMC St. Margaret teaching hospice and palliative care.
Dosch will receive the designation at the annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care in San Diego, Calif., in March.
The Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine status is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a physician member.
“Dr. Dosch has demonstrated a significant commitment to the field of hospice and palliative medicine, and we celebrate her in this achievement,” officials at Concordia Lutheran Ministries said in a news release Friday.
The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine is the only national medical specialty society for hospice and palliative medicine. Since 1988, the academy has supported hospice and palliative medicine through professional education and training, development of a specialist workforce, support for clinical practice standards, research, and advocacy. Its membership includes more than 5,200 physicians and other health care professionals.
