One old, one new Adams Township supervisor elected

ADAMS TWP — The board of supervisors will see one new member, while an incumbent was re-elected to another six-year term, unofficial county election results indicate.

Clay Morrow, who touted his volunteerism within the community, received 2,166 votes across the township's three precincts, and joins incumbent Russ Ford, who earned 2,114.

Both will take office in January.

Frank Haustovich, a third challenger in the race, received 1,259 votes.

Ford said he was pleased with the voter turnout, which averaged approximately 33 percent across the three precincts. He said the voters heard his message, and he was going to try to return the favor.

“We need to listen to the people,” he said. “I ran on the fact that I'm part of the people.”

The incumbent added he was pleased that Morrow, a newcomer to the board, was elected.

“I think it's a great move for Adams Township. I think Clay Morrow is going to be a great asset to the township,” Ford said. “We have a lot of mountains to move. ... I think we're going to do some great things.”

One issue the township has faced, Ford said, has been rapid development and how it has affected issues such as traffic and stormwater management.

He said the current board has tried to balance that development and residents' needs, and that he would continue that balancing act in the future.

“We need to continue to move forward,” Ford said. “We have a lot of development in Adams Township and we need to make sure we're moving forward in the right way.”

More than anything, however, Ford said he was “proud” to have been elected to another six-year term.
