DUI suspect had grandson in car

She's also accused of kicking officer

JACKSON TWP — A suspected drunken driver whose infant grandson was in her vehicle is accused of kicking a police officer following her arrest Monday, authorities said.

Jackson Township police arrested Germaine F. Snyder-Davies, 50, of Fombell, Beaver County, after a traffic stop about 1 p.m. on High Acres Road.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton later arraigned Snyder-Davies on felony charges of aggravated assault and child endangerment, and a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence.

She also is charged with three traffic violations. She was placed in the Butler County Prison following arraignment.

Police said they were initially called about 12:45 p.m. to the area of Northgate Plaza for a suspected intoxicated driver. Patrolman Zeke Reed eventually saw the suspect on Route 19 weaving in a sport utility vehicle.

Snyder-Davies also crossed the center line, police said, and at one point nearly struck an oncoming vehicle.

Reed pulled the car over. When he got to her vehicle, according to charging documents, he noticed a young child who was unsecured in a safety seat.

Police said they subsequently determined the 1-year-old child was the defendant's grandson.

Additionally, police said they found cans of hard cider in the vehicle. Two of the cans were empty and one was open and still had some of the alcoholic beverage in it.

Snyder-Davies failed two field sobriety tests and refused to take another one, documents said. She was taken to the police station and placed in a temporary holding area to await processing.

“While attempting to secure the defendant,” Reed said in his affidavit, “she kicked Officer Christopher Miller in the left upper leg/thigh area.”

Miller was not injured.

Police said Snyder-Davies refused to submit to a blood test.

At arraignment, Stoughton set her bail at $10,000 and imposed a number of conditions on her release.

The defendant posted bail Monday, but had to be released to the county probation office for pretrial supervision.

She also is required to wear a Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor, an ankle bracelet that immediately alerts law enforcement and probation and parole officers when the person wearing the device consumes alcohol.

Online court records did not indicate if she has an attorney.
