Woman allegedly strangles man with a phone cord during fight

CRANBERRY TWP — A township woman told police she tried to strangle a man with a phone cord during an altercation early Thursday.

Desirae A. Lloyd, 30, is charged with felony aggravated assault and strangulation, as well as misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment.

According to the affidavit, officers went to a Creekview Circle apartment at 2 a.m. Thursday for a disturbance.

The victim was found to have a laceration on his lower lip and allegedly told police it was caused by several closed-fist strikes from Lloyd. The man further alleged that Lloyd got on top of him and wrapped a phone cord around his neck. The affidavit notes officers could see raised skin around the victim's neck as well as red marks.

Lloyd then allegedly went into the kitchen, got a knife, and threatened to kill the victim.

Charging documents said investigators also spoke to Lloyd. She reportedly told them “she initiated the physical contact,”

She allegedly further told authorities she got on top of the victim and struck him several times and wrapped the cord around his neck.

The complaint notes Lloyd did not appear to have injuries related to the altercation.

Lloyd was arraigned Thursday and is being held in Butler County Prison on $15,000 monetary bond. A Nov. 8 preliminary hearing is scheduled before District Judge David Kovach.
