ADAMS TWP — The Mars School Board race got racy earlier this week when some district residents received a letter from the Butler County Republican Committee.

The letter, which was issued to an estimated one in four households in the district, alleged board candidate John Neurohr has a professional history of working for organizations funded by Hungarian-American investor George Soros.Soros was described earlier this week by the New York Times as a “billionaire philanthropist who funds an array of progressive causes.”

“He has professional work experience ... for several organizations that were in part funded by Soros,” said Paul Adametz, southwestern chairman for the Butler County Republican Committee.

Adametz told the Eagle the committee believes Neurohr was “planted” in Butler County to work against established Republican figures in this area — perhaps even as far up the ladder as President Donald Trump.

Adametz believes Neurohr could have many far-left connections.

“Definitely (with) anti-American organizations,” he said.

Adametz, who said he wrote most of the letter himself, said copies weren’t mailed to all district voters due to budget constraints.

“(We mailed) basically what we could afford,” Adametz said.

The mailings seemed to pay-off, in Adametz’s eyes. Neurohr did not secure a spot on the school board.

“I would certainly hope the people in south Butler County are cautious enough ... to not elect this type of (politician),” Adametz said.

Neurohr did not immediately respond to a phone call from the Eagle.
