Gift to match Harmony Museum donations

Anonymous supporters are encouraging donations to the Harmony Museum by matching donations up to $5,000.

The grant that would match each dollar donated to the museum through mid-December.

Rodney Gasch, president of Historic Harmony, said the donor is not restricting how the up to $10,000 in funding could be used by the museum.

“We’ve been very fortunate to have good support from individuals who are trying to encourage others to do that as well,” Gasch said.

He said part of the funding would likely help pay for the Wagner Haus window replacement campaign. The effort replaced aging windows with new panes matching the original design of the 207-year-old building.

The funds would also help the museum adequately maintain, heat and insure its historic buildings, most of which are more than 200 years old.

The museum oversees nine properties in the Harmony area.

To ensure donations are matched by the grant, Gasch said the contributions must be sent to the museum by Dec. 15.
