New Cranberry VFD addition unveiled

CRANBERRY TWP – Members of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Department reflected on the past and looked to the future at Saturday's open house to showcase the newly expanded Park Fire Station on Route 19.

Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Department President Ed Hestin spoke about the honor he and other fire company members feel to be celebrating 60 years of the community having a fire department.

Andrew Hack, Hestin said, has been part of the department for the entirety of its existence, and when Hack's original fire company wanted a building, members needed to raise the money and build a station with their own hands.

“We are thankful, these days, to have other means so we can focus on training and responding to fires,” Hestin said.

The unveiling of the new portion of the fire station included tours of the two-story structure and full basement.
