Seneca Valley hires new buildings, grounds director

JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley School Board approved the appointment of Randy Miller as the district's new buildings and grounds director at Monday night's board meeting.

Miller comes to Seneca Valley from the corporate sector, where he has worked for the past two years as a project manager for FedEx Ground Corp. in Moon Township. During his time there, he was responsible for managing the development and design of facilities, sites, buildings and material handling systems for expansions and new stations.

Miller, who is replacing Robert Cook, will be paid a $110,000 salary. Cook resigned earlier in January to pursue other professional opportunities.

“We welcome Mr. Miller's experience and expertise from the architectural/construction industry, especially as we embark on two large building projects in the district,” said Superintendent Tracy Vitale.

“He brings to the table a wealth of knowledge that will allow us to move through the foreseeable future in a smooth and effective way,” she said.

Miller's extensive experience includes working with all phases of design and construction, including project budgets. He also worked seven years as director of construction administration at Architectural Innovations in Pittsburgh; four years as project manager with Eckles Architecture in New Castle; two years as project manager and specifications writer for Foreman Architect and Engineers in Zelienople; and 14 years as project manager and architect for Richard N. Manns, Architect P.C. in Munhall.

Miller earned his bachelor's degree in architectural studies from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Construction Specifications Institute.
