Zelie woman faces charges in stabbing

Husband wouldn't take no for an answer, wife says

ZELIENOPLE — A New Year's Eve celebration turned violent Tuesday when a borough woman allegedly stabbed her husband after he reportedly wanted to have sex with her and wouldn't take no for an answer.

Dyna Marie Hodges, 33, of Zelienople called police around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday saying she had stabbed her husband in the arm and that “there was serious bleeding,” documents state. Officers responded and reportedly found the man, identified as David Heeter, on his porch, bleeding from a stab wound in his left bicep.

Officer Brett Myers entered the home with his Taser drawn to find Hodges wiping blood from the kitchen floor with a towel, documents state.

Myers ordered her outside, and she complied.

He then administered first aid to Heeter, applying a tourniquet to the injured arm, while waiting for the ambulance to arrive, documents state.

Hodges reportedly told officers that she and Heeter had been drinking and that he became upset when she refused to have sex with him. Hodges said Heeter grabbed her and tried to lead her upstairs, documents state.

She reportedly continued to refuse, ultimately grabbing a knife from the kitchen counter and stabbing Heeter in the arm.

Officers interviewed Heeter, and he confirmed what Hodges told them, documents state. Heeter was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for further treatment.

Hodges is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. She was in the Butler County Prison on a $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday.
