CRANBERRY TWP — A Pittsburgh man was arrested Sept. 2 and faces rape and other charges for allegedly assaulting a woman after agreeing to pay her for sex.

Sherod L. Rosier, 33, is charged with felony rape by forcible compulsion, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, robbery causing serious bodily injury, carrying a firearm without a license, criminal use of a communication facility and misdemeanor indecent assault and unlawful restraint.

The charges stem from an incident that allegedly took place March 17 and was reported to Cranberry Township police on April 6, according to court documents. Rosier responded to a sex-for-money ad placed by the victim on the website Backpages, according to the criminal complaint.

On March 13, police said, Rosier paid $200 to have sex with the victim. On March 17, Rosier allegedly contacted the woman to arrange another visit. They agreed on $275 for an hour, the complaint states.

When Rosier arrived at the hotel, police said, he told the woman he was, “a little tipsy,” the complaint states. The woman asked Rosier to place the money on the table and began to undress, she told police, and he removed a silver, semi-automatic handgun from his pants and pointed it at her head. Rosier then allegedly told the woman to shut up and asked her where her money was.

She told Rosier there was $1,700 cash, as well as gift cards in the room safe, according to court documents. When she was hesitant to open the safe, Rosier allegedly cocked the gun and pressed it to her throat.

The victim opened the safe and Rosier took the contents, the complaint states. He told the woman to stop shaking and be quiet, and then allegedly began raping her at gunpoint.

The woman told police that Rosier raped her for about an hour, and then forced her to perform oral sex on him at gunpoint. He then allegedly took the woman’s phone and deleted text messages and phone calls before leaving the hotel.

Police said Rosier began calling and texting the woman to apologize about 15 minutes later, offering to give her the money back if she would let him have sex with her again. He also demanded the woman send him nude photos, saying he would report her to police if she refused.

Police said cell phone records show Rosier admitting to raping and robbing the woman; she also picked him out of a lineup, according to court documents, and police said cell tower records show Rosier at the hotel during the time of the assault.

Rosier was arraigned Sept. 2 by District Judge David Kovach. He was being held in Butler County Prison on $100,000 monetary bail.
