Carl Leonberger

Carl Leonberger, 84, died Aug. 3.

Carl was a U.S. Navy veteran and had served aboard the USS Truckee from 1955 until 1957. He also served six years in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Previously, he had worked for Capital Airways in Arlington Va., worked as a skilled cabinet maker and owned a pet store in Philadelphia, where he was born.

Carl was an airline mechanic with Allegheny Airlines/USAirways for 32 years. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He retired to Seminole, Fla., in 1998.

Carl was active with his family.

He was a trustee of Dutilh United Methodist Church in Cranberry Township, was a Boy Scout leader, Little League Baseball coach and a member of the Seminole Garden Men's Club.

Carl is survived by his brother, Albert Leonberger Jr.; his ex-wife, Evalyn R. Leonberger; his two children, Glenn A. (Laura) Leonberger and Jean L. (Richard) Horn; two grandchildren, Bethany R. (Michael) Douty and Jordan C. (Ben) Conner; and three great- grandchildren, Alexander, William and Emilia Kay.
