Overturned vehicle damages utility pole

A vehicle overturned on Union Church Road in Adams Township, hitting a pole and causing the pole to shear off its base shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday.

ADAMS TWP — No injuries were reported in a crash on Union Church Road in Adams Township, which was initially called in as an overturned vehicle with entrapment.

The incident occurred a short distance from 117 Union Church Road at 4:04 p.m. Saturday

Adams Township police said the Michigan driver, whose name was not released at the scene. reported that he was driving to a friend's home for a party, which he could not find, when he looked down at his printed directions and the vehicle went off the road.

The vehicle then overturned and hit an Armstrong Cable utility pole. The pole was sheared from its base and was hanging by wires. Police said the utility company had been notified and would be dispatched to the scene to replace the pole.

The initial call was made for an entrapped individual, but police said a bystander helped the driver from the vehicle. He was not injured.

Callery and Adams township fire departments, and Quality EMS assisted on the scene.
